SPARKS , Nev. — The NuVal Nutritional Scoring System is now available at all Scolari’s Food & Drug stores here, which operates 18 stores in California and Nevada.
Under the NuVal Nutritional Scoring System, all store items receive a score from 1 to 100; the higher the score, the better the nutrition. Scores are posted on supermarket shelves and signs throughout the store.
“With the large amount of nutrition information on food packaging and television advertising from food manufacturers, it can become overwhelming,” said Joey Scolari, chief executive officer for Scolari’s, in a statement. “The NuVal system answers a simple question in an instant: ‘What are the most nutritional options on the shelves for my family?’”
NuVal Scores are currently available in more than 1,050 stores across 25 states in chains such as Price Chopper, Hy-Vee, Meijer and United Supermarkets.
