Walmart yesterday opened its second Walmart Health Center next to a remodeled Walmart Supercenter in Calhoun, Ga.

Featuring a clinical setting, the health care facility offers primary and urgent care, lab, X-ray and diagnostic, counseling, dental, optical and hearing services all in one site. Customers also have access to a new pharmacy department and a new vision center at the adjacent Supercenter.

The Walmart Health Center is operated by qualified medical professionals, including doctors, nurse practitioners, dentists, behavioral health providers and optometrists. Walmart said it’s partnering with several providers for the facility’s staff of health professionals.

Walmart opened the first Health Center last September in Dallas, Ga. The retail health concept drew praise for its array of services, design and convenience — as well as its focus on affordable care. Walmart noted that the facility provides transparent pricing regardless of a patient’s insurance status.

“We think we can make an impactful difference in affordability, convenience and, most importantly, accessibility for the Calhoun community,” commented Sean Slovenski, president of Walmart U.S. Health and Wellness.

The grand opening event, held on Jan. 29, was attended by Calhoun Mayor James Palmer. Also stopping by was actor/producer Mark Wahlberg, who was in Atlanta promoting a new Wahlburgers restaurant, a published report said.
