Heartland Food Products Group, maker of SPLENDA Sweeteners, launched a new, disruptive innovation in the naturals sweetener category: SPLENDA Naturals Stevia Sweetener. The new product has no bitter aftertaste, no calories, no added flavors, no added colors and no artificial ingredients.

"We're excited to continue building the SPLENDA Brand, and are proud to introduce SPLENDA Naturals Stevia Sweetener," says Ted Gelov, Heartland FPG chairman and CEO. "Our goal was to provide consumers with a better-tasting alternative to stevia sweeteners currently on the market and I'm so proud of this team for this much-needed innovation in the category. With SPLENDA Naturals Stevia Sweetener, we are giving consumers the chance to enjoy natural sweetness without calories."

SPLENDA Naturals Stevia Sweetener is made with two ingredients: stevia leaf extract and erythritol. The stevia leaf extract and erythritol used in SPLENDA Naturals Stevia Sweetener are non-GMO. By using a better-tasting extract from the stevia leaf, Rebaudioside D (Reb D), SPLENDA Brand has found the perfect stevia blend to capture the naturally sweet taste.

Stevia leaf extract is a component of the leaves of the stevia plant. Stevia plant leaves are harvested, dried, and then steeped in water. The intense sweetening components – including Reb D – are then extracted, isolated, purified and dried.

The erythritol used in SPLENDA Naturals Stevia Sweetener is Non-GMO Project Verified and is produced by a fermentation process using non-GMO corn. Erythritol is a main ingredient in SPLENDA Naturals Stevia Sweetener to provide needed volume and texture and make it easier to sweeten with stevia extract, which can be 200 times sweeter than sugar.

"While the 2015-2020 Dietary Guidelines recommend that Americans consume less than 10 percent of calories per day from added sugars, current intake is much higher. For many, it may be overwhelming to make changes to your daily eating patterns, however small changes, such as swapping out added sugars for low calorie sweeteners, can help," says Maureen Conway, MBA, MA, RD, LDN, FAND, director of nutrition and professional affairs for Heartland FPG. "SPLENDA Naturals Stevia Sweetener is the perfect choice for consumers looking to reduce calories from added sugar from their diet without sacrificing taste."

SPLENDA Naturals Stevia Sweetener is available at retail stores nationwide for a suggested retail price of $3.99 for a 40 count box, and $6.99 for an 80 count box. The SPLENDA Brand is so confident in the taste that they are offering a money-back guarantee.
