UNREAL Re-Launches Unjunked Candy With New Flavor Twists

Founded by two teenage brothers on a mission to unjunk the world, UNREAL is reinventing America’s favorite candies with 100% real, non-GMO ingredients, less sugar, and no gluten, corn, or soy, say company officials– with an unbelievably delicious taste. Offering a better-for-you candy option for health-conscious consumers, the new unjunked candies include several dark chocolate varieties, which are UNREAL’s first-ever vegan products. UNREAL candies are now available at more than 1,000 stores nationwide, including select Super Target stores, Kroger natural aisles, and select Whole Foods Markets. “It’s great to be back on store shelves and to introduce some new, really unique flavors to consumers,” says UNREAL CEO Steve Konczal. “At UNREAL, we’re constantly innovating to deliver exciting and delicious products for the natural aisle. But above all, we believe in being a business that does the right thing. From our sustainable sourcing practices to using fair trade and organic ingredients, we’re always striving to do what’s better for people, and what’s better for the planet.” From fair trade cacao, to the organic dairy used in its milk chocolate, to the beetroot, carrot and red cabbage juices that naturally color its candy coated chocolates, UNREAL uses only 100% real ingredients in every unreal bite, officials add, also stating that their ingredients are sustainably sourced and free of GMOs, gluten, soy, corn, excess sugar and artificial flavors, dyes and preservatives. In place of the junk, UNREAL has also added more natural ingredients, like cacao and peanuts, to offer more protein and fiber from real foods, and to use less sugar. We recognized that we needed to better align our products and messaging with the values of our core, health-conscious consumer target,” says Amanda Reiss, CMO of UNREAL. “The packaging and merchandising strategies have been re-designed to bring UNREAL’s fun and quirky brand personality to life. With these changes, we believe our products will better stand out on shelf in the natural channels, where we’re now selling UNREAL.” With a focus on special occasions, events, and key candy holidays like Easter and Halloween, UNREAL’s new product line is available in twin packs, shareable bags, bulk, and a special party can - a one gallon “paint can” filled with a mix of 50 snack size peanut butter cups in four new flavors. Suggested retail pricing is $1.99 per twin pack, and $5.99 per 4 oz. bag, and $29.99 for the UNREAL party can.
