MINNEAPOLIS — Paul Singer, former chief information officer of Supervalu, passed away Friday after a long battle against brain cancer. Prior to joining Supervalu, Singer, 57, was CIO of Target.

An adoptive father of three girls from Russia, Singer was well known for his work in promoting adoption, serving as chief executive officer of the Global Orphan Care Foundation and inspiring the creation of the Retail Orphan Initiative (RetailROI).
