Serving the west side of Cleveland, the 107,000-square-foot Market District is open 24 hours a day offering restaurant-quality dishes unique meat, as well as produce cheese and grocery selections from around the globe. “As a company we are excited to be expanding our Northeast Ohio presence. The addition of the Strongsville location marks our third area Market District in just 15 months,” says Rob Borella, Giant Eagle spokesperson. “The newest location showcases our unique passion for food, with expertly trained Team Members who will help customers to unlock their own culinary potential.” Star of ABC’s The Chew, culinary expert and restaurateur Mario Batali was at the grand opening celebration of the Strongsville Market District on October 9. Batali joins a long list of the world’s most prominent chefs who have been a part of the Market District experience. The Strongsville Market District is the first Cleveland location to offer a state of the art, hands-on cooking school, providing a place for cooks of all levels to explore new food ideas, share food knowledge, learn techniques and take a range of classes taught by Market District and celebrity chefs and cookbook authors. The new Strongsville location showcases an in-store full service restaurant area with a unique electronic direct table delivery system where Market District Team Members deliver meals directly to customers’ tables. The restaurant also offers a full service wine and beer bar that seats 12 and features wine by the glass, microbrews, specialty beers, as well as 18 craft and local beers on tap. The store offers a wealth of freshly prepared foods including stone hearth-baked pizzas and fresh hand-rolled sushi. It also offers unique culinary elements such as an expanded selection of international grocery items, a wide array of conventional, organic and specialty produce and a vast variety of bulk foods; and ongoing cooking activities and interactive events will take place at the demonstration station. Company officials highlight some of the store's departments:

  • An artisan cheese shop offers more than 400 handcrafted domestic and imported cheeses, including fresh hand wrapped mozzarella, European goat and sheep’s milk cheeses, an array of enticing Goudas, Normandy Camembert, French Brie and iconic blues;

  • A sweets shop features hand-dipped chocolate novelties, gourmet confections and nostalgic candy classics like Necco Wafers and Pixie Stix, as well as hand-dipped caramel apples, just-spun cotton candy and fresh, homemade kettle corn;

  • A bulk foods section that includes 12 varieties of olive oil and vinegars, 24 varieties of teas, 48 spices and more than 60 bulk foods items, including a variety of nuts, fresh ground nutterbutters, salts and peppercorns, dried chilies, mushrooms, granola, trail and party mixes and more;

  • Market District sushi chefs transform fresh seafood into classic Japanese maki rolls, nigiri, sashimi and bento with organic rice;

  • Market District offers in house roasted meats, as well as the finest in charcuterie, showcasing imported cured meats from all around the world including Italy and Spain;

  • Delicatessens offering NYC-style corned beef, pastrami & brisket, roasted or smoked turkey or good old-fashioned roast beef;

  • Fresh cut meat, including dry-aged beef, chicken sausage made in-store, grass-fed beef, bison and game, Nature’s Basket antibiotic free meats and poultry and more;

  • High-quality seafood from sustainable sources such as Alaska salmon and Gulf of Maine cod, a wide assortment of shellfish, including wild American shrimp, jumbo sea scallops, live clams, oysters and lobsters;

  • Straight-from-the-hearth artisan breads including NYC bagels prepared fresh daily, alongside a large selection of home-style and boutique style cookies made daily with quality ingredients. The bakery also features signature Market District buttercream, which is made from scratch;

  • A spacious and inviting in-store restaurant that seats 107 in the cafe, as well as 23 in the spacious outdoor patio area;

  • A beer and wine store with more than 2,400 wines from around the world and a selection of more than 900 beers to enjoy with a delicious Market District meal. In addition, a full state liquor agency carrying more than 1,000 spirits; and

  • An expanded health, beauty and wellness department filled with natural and organic cosmetics, vitamins, supplements and personal care products, and staffed with a licensed skin care professional and a registered dietitian conducting ongoing wellness events and activities.

In addition to specialty and unique offerings, the Strongsville Market District also features many of the products, convenience-based services and other savings opportunities that customers have come to expect from Cleveland area Giant Eagle and Market District locations.
