Out of four retailers surveyed via mystery shop, San Antonio-based H-E-B had the lowest total basket price in two of the three weeks of the survey.

This is the second report in an ongoing series of price and service checks conducted in different U.S. regions on a rotating basis as part of a new SN partnership initiative.

Walmart, which closely trailed H-E-B in those two weeks, had the lowest basket in the first week that data was collected. The survey was conducted on a 20-SKU basket during the weeks of Dec. 30, Jan. 13 and Jan. 27.

Kroger had the third-lowest basket price in each of the three weeks, behind Walmart, and Randalls had the highest-price basket in all three weeks. In each of the three weeks, H-E-B also had the highest number of lowest-priced items.

All four retailers scored well in store appearance and ease of shopping.
