SOUTH BEND, Ind. — Kroger Co. said it has reached an agreement with United Food and Commercial Workers Local 700 on contracts covering 800 workers in nine stores here.

"Kroger and UFCW reached a good agreement that provides wage increases, affordable quality health care and a stable pension for our associates and their families," said Bob Moeder, president of Kroger's Central Division, based in Indianapolis.

In a statement on its website, the union local, also based in Indianapolis, said the contract was approved by an 83% majority in voting last week.

Further details about the agreement were not immediately available.
