CINCINNATI — The Kroger Co. here is using an upgraded version of the PriceStrat system from KSS Retail to execute price optimization by customer segment.

"Our customers-first strategy is dependent on a deep understanding of our shoppers, knowing why they buy what they buy, and how to serve them better," said Chris Hjelm, senior vice president and chief information officer for Kroger, in a statement. "Using the KSS Retail tool, we will now have the ability to model prices and promotions across customer segments, to make sure that we deliver a superior shopping experience."

KSS Retail is a division of UK-based dunnhumby, which partnered with Kroger to form dunnhumbyUSA here.
