New York supermarket chain Morton Williams becomes newest member of grocery co-op Allegiance Retail Services

New York-based Morton Williams Supermarkets has joined retailer-owned grocery co-op Allegiance Retail Services, it was announced on Monday. 

Founded in 1952, Morton Williams Supermarkets is a family-owned and operated food retailer with 16 stores in the New York Metropolitan area. Avi Kaner, an owner of Morton Williams Supermarkets, was also unanimously elected to Allegiance’s board of directors.

“We are honored to join the Allegiance family,” Kaner said in a statement. “The level of dedication and support by the cooperative’s executives and other members has been stellar. We look forward to growing and enhancing our relationship with this wonderful organization.”

Iselin, New Jersey-based Allegiance Retail Services Inc. is the marketing and merchandising cooperative for New York-area supermarkets.
