Publix Executive Given Loss Prevention Award

The National Retail Federation, Washington, announced yesterday that Ron Averette, loss prevention manager, distribution for Publix Super Markets, was awarded NRF’s 2008 Loss Prevention Case of the Year.

ORLANDO, Fla. — The National Retail Federation, Washington, announced yesterday that Ron Averette, loss prevention manager, distribution for Publix Super Markets, was awarded NRF’s 2008 Loss Prevention Case of the Year. The announcement was made at NRF’s Loss Prevention Conference and Expo, held at the Orange County Convention Center here. According to NRF, Averette worked with law enforcement to uncover an organized retail crime ring in central Florida. “The sting operation uncovered the largest (in dollar losses) organized retail crime ring to date and has been a topic of conversation throughout the retail loss prevention community since the arrests were made in January 2008,” said NRF in a statement.
