Publix, Tesco, Wal-Mart Cited for Supply Chain Excellence

Publix Supermarkets, Tesco and Wal-Mart Stores were among the companies cited on AMR Research’s Supply Chain Top 25 list of companies that demonstrate superior supply chain practices.

ORLANDO, Fla. — Publix Supermarkets, Tesco and Wal-Mart Stores were among the companies cited on AMR Research's Supply Chain Top 25 list of companies that demonstrate superior supply chain practices. The list was presented yesterday at the U Connect conference here by Bruce Richardson, chief research officer, AMR Research.

Publix, 23rd on the list, was notable for "how well they execute at local stores" and how well the chain performs "against entrenched competition," said Richardson. Tesco (15th) "continues to revolutionize the store experience," while Wal-Mart (7th) has pioneered sustainability, forecasting, global data synchronization, among other areas, he said.

CPG manufacturers on the list include Unilever (22nd), Colgate-Palmolive (20th), Coca-Cola (13th), Johnson and Johnson (12th), PepsiCo (9th) and Procter & Gamble (3rd).
