Keasbey, NJ - According to the American Diabetes Association, nearly 24 million people - close to 8% of the U.S. population - has a form of diabetes. The most common type, Type 2 diabetes, is on the rise and has been linked to rising obesity rates.

One of the best ways to keep diabetes in check is to follow your doctor's advice, incorporating a healthy diet, exercising and using prescribed medicines as instructed by your healthcare practitioner.

Keeping true to its mission of delivering outstanding customer service and value, ShopRite is helping its customers stay healthy by offering free medication and information to customers with diabetes.

On Sunday, June 6, ShopRite began providing free diabetes medications to all customers, with or without insurance, at ShopRite Pharmacies across Connecticut, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Maryland and Delaware. To take part in the program, customers must have a valid prescription from their doctor. There is no membership or other commitment required.  There will be seven different drugs, in varying strengths offered in the program, and the free medications will be a 30-day supply, based on common dosing.
