Supervalu Partners with Indian IT Firm
MINNEAPOLIS — Supervalu today announced a strategic relationship with Tata Consultancy Services, an IT services, business solutions and outsourcing organization in Mumbai, India, resulting in the sale of Supervalu India to TCS.

MINNEAPOLIS — Supervalu today announced a strategic relationship with Tata Consultancy Services, an IT services, business solutions and outsourcing organization in Mumbai, India, resulting in the sale of Supervalu India to TCS.
Supervalu India was formed in 2007 and provides a variety of IT infrastructure, applications and business and corporate services for the company. As part of the agreement, more than 600 Supervalu India associates will become part of TCS. The sale of Supervalu India to TCS is expected to be completed by October 2010.
"For Supervalu, this move will allow us to improve operations, freeing up funds to invest more aggressively in our customers," said Wayne Shurts, Supervalu's chief information officer, in a statement. "It will also allow us to move more quickly toward business solutions. We have many talented associates at Supervalu India, and an added benefit of this arrangement is that they will continue to play a key role in the future success of the company."
