In a video address Thursday, Wal-Mart Stores CEO Doug McMillon highlighted "blurring distinctions" between physical and virtual shopping as the retailer continues to invest in digital capabilities.

McMillon's recorded remarks were released as part of Wal-Mart's annual report issued Thursday. The presentation accompanied an online Q&A in which McMillon defended the "foundational" investments the retailer has made in technology over the last year, saying the company would "win with a differentiated, disruptive strategy and a foundation of operational excellence."
