Wal-Mart Hosts Apple Fest

BENTONVILLE, Ark. — Wal-Mart Stores kicked off its Apple Fest this weekend with samples of locally grown apples and apple products. Savings on these items will applied during October and recipes will be distributed.

“Wal-Mart customers can easily identify locally grown fruits and vegetables through signs that include official state-grown marks, indicating approval by their state’s agriculture department,” according to Wal-Mart.

The retailer has partnered with more than 200 local growers for Apple Fest. They'll stock 5,000 pounds of apples in each store nationwide. Fresh apple varieties including Honeycrisp, Golden Delicious, Fuji, Jonagold and Cortland will sell for $1 to $1.98 per pound.
