Wal-Mart Stores has reportedly launched a new grocery format in Puerto Rico called Super Ahorros, a discount format similar to the Bodega Express chain the company operates in Mexico and to other similar formats it operates across Central and South America.

BENTONVILLE, Ark. — Wal-Mart Stores here has reportedly launched a new grocery format in Puerto Rico called Super Ahorros, a discount format similar to the Bodega Express chain the company operates in Mexico and to other similar formats it operates across Central and South America. A report from Planet Retail said 80% of the product mix is groceries, including a wide offering of private-label goods, and 20% is perishables. The store, which covers about 10,000 square feet, is located in the municipality of Villalba.
