BENTONVILLE, Ark. — Wal-Mart Stores here will pay $40 million to settle a class-action lawsuit with workers in Massachusetts, reports said Thursday.

The lawsuit alleged that hourly workers were forced to work off the clock and were denied breaks. The settlement would pay between $400 and $2,500 to workers who were denied those benefits, according to a Bloomberg report.
