BENTONVILLE, Ark. — Wal-Mart stores will reach out to Hispanic shoppers this weekend by hosting Three Kings celebrations.
As part of the festivities that will mark the Christian holiday of the Epiphany, Three Kings will be making guest appearances in more than 480 stores on Jan. 3-4.
Customers will have the opportunity to have their pictures taken with the kings, and children will able to write a letter to the kings via a postcard template available on www.ahorramasvivemejor.com. Recipes and arts and crafts can also be found on the site.
Walmart will offer Rosca de Reyes, also known as the Kings Cake, in some stores. Kings cakes contain a small plastic baby that a “winner” will find in their piece. The retailer will also mark the occasion by discounting toys.
“Wal-Mart is committed to serving its customers’ needs and the Hispanic community by recognizing Hispanic holidays such as Three Kings Day with traditional foods, customs and products” says Laura Phillips, vice president and divisional merchandise manager of toys for Wal-Mart, in a statement.
