LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. — 1SYNC here, a data pool for the Global Data Synchronization Network (GDSN) and a division of GS1 US, presented its Compass Award to Danny Wegman, chief executive officer of Wegmans Food Markets, for his “exceptional leadership” and “significant contributions to the overall success of the GDSN.”

Wegmans, Rochester, N.Y., has been a leading user of the GDSN to synchronize product data with suppliers, connecting to 1,100 suppliers and synchronizing over 138,000 GTIN hierarchies.

“These results are largely due to Wegman’s strategic foresight of placing full-time resources and support teams in place to support data synchronization efforts, and increase overall collaboration with trading partners,” said 1SYNC, in a statement.

The Compass Award was one of several Power of 1 awards presented by 1SYNC at the U Connect Live conference in Orlando, Fla., earlier this month. Another winner was Wal-Mart Stores, Bentonville, Ark., which received the Data Quality (Recipient Company) award.

“To improve data quality, Wal-Mart continues to analyze ways to measure the completeness and the accuracy of the data it is receiving from suppliers,” said 1SYNC. “In doing so, the company provides shared visibility of these results with their trading partners with the implementation of their Data Accuracy Scorecard.”

Other winners were Kraft Foods for Data Quality (Source Company); Procter & Gamble for Adoption (Source Company); Lowe’s Cos. for Adoption (Recipient Company); and Dot Foods for Innovation.
