ROCHESTER, N.Y. — A thermal bag that keeps hot foods hot and cold foods cold is the newest addition to Wegmans Food Markets' reusable bag lineup.

The foldable bag costs $1.99, and with three layers of insulation helps shoppers avoid the 40-degree to 140-degree danger zone, said Mary Ellen Burris, senior vice president of consumer affairs in her online column.

"In case you wondered, don't put hot and cold foods in the same bag … buy one for each temperature range," she said.

In order to keep the cost of the bags low, Wegmans' supplier InStore Products sourced them from China. "We want shoppers to have as few barriers to purchase and use as possible," Burris noted.

Wegmans is rewarding shoppers for their reusable bag use with $1 off coupons on items like Italian Classics frozen family meals, Club Pack fresh meat and a greeting card, until the end of November.
