Whole Foods Taps Besancon for New Purchasing Post
Whole Foods Market here Thursday said it has named Michael Besancon to the newly created position of senior global vice president of purchasing, distribution and marketing.

AUSTIN, Texas — Whole Foods Market here Thursday said it has named Michael Besancon to the newly created position of senior global vice president of purchasing, distribution and marketing. Besancon, who began in the new position this week, most recently served as regional president of Whole Foods’ Southern Pacific division. “Having worked in every aspect of the natural foods business from soup to nuts, Michael is far and away the most knowledgeable person on the 'buy side' of the business. He has been an outstanding leader at Whole Foods Market for many years and has earned respect throughout the company," said Walter Robb, co-president and chief operating officer, in a statement. Besancon has worked at Whole Foods since 1994 in a variety of positions and currently chairs the retailer’s National Green Mission Task Force, which supports sustainable agriculture and recycling programs.
