BOISE, Idaho — WinCo Foods here will reportedly expand into Arizona later this year with multiple sites, according to published reports.

According to local reports, the company plans to move into a former Wal-Mart unit of 139,000 square feet in north Phoenix and possibly open in a newly built store in Glendale. There were also reports of WinCo's interest in other locations in Chandler and Gilbert, two Phoenix-area suburbs. WinCo officials could not be reached for comment.

WinCo operates 71 stores of 90,000 to 100,000 square feet in Washington, Idaho, Nevada, California, Oregon and, since last year, Utah, with sales estimated at $4.3 billion.
