JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Beginning on Wednesday, Winn-Dixie Stores will offer a “What-A-Deal” flu prevention program that features give-away incentives.

Customers who get a seasonal flu vaccination at their neighborhood Winn-Dixie Pharmacy will receive free: a 4-pound bag of Florida navel oranges, a 1.75-liter container of Simply Orange orange juice, an 8-ounce bottle of Winn-Dixie hand sanitizer, a 35-count package of Winn-Dixie disinfecting wipes, and a 75-count box of Scotties tissues. These free items represent a savings of $14.76. The flu vaccination, which also provides protection against the H1N1 virus, is available for $23 to shoppers using their Customer Reward Card — an additional savings of $5 off the regular price.

“At Winn-Dixie, we strive to keep our customers healthy — this deal is our solution to protect people from the flu by offering a valuable incentive to get vaccinated,” said John Fegan, Winn-Dixie’s vice president of pharmacy, in a press release. “By getting vaccinated now and taking advantage of this great deal, customers not only save money in the short term, but they save the future hassle of additional medical costs, doctor visits, missed work and other costs associated with the flu.”

Flu vaccines are available on a walk-in basis in all of Winn-Dixie’s 379 in-store pharmacies and will be administered by certified pharmacists. The “What a Deal” program runs through Oct. 26.
