JEROME, Idaho — Ridley’s Food & Drug, which operates 15 supermarkets in Wyoming and Idaho, plans to implement an electronic coupon clearing (ECC) solution from ScanAps, Los Angeles, beginning in July in one store, ScanAps announced. ECC, which has been discussed for many years in the coupon industry but never successfully implemented on a broad scale, is designed to provide an electronic transfer of coupon redemption information to manufacturers and facilitate payment to retailers. It aims to eliminate most of the charge-backs, adjustments and invoice deductions that occur in traditional and one-count coupon processing. “Electronic coupon clearing streamlines the checkout process while ensuring payback on all redeemed coupons,” said Vijay Chetty, president of ScanAps, in a statement.
