PLEASANTON, Calif. — Safeway here said Thursday it has agreed to install approximately 1,400 Constar kiosks by the end of the year at its U.S. and Canadian stores, with installations scheduled to begin this month.

The kiosks will allow customers to turn coins into cash, apply the coin value to store purchases or donate to a non-profit organization.
