BUFFALO, N.Y. — Tops Markets here has selected a scan-based-trading (SBT) solution from Prescient, West Chester, Pa., to allow suppliers to maintain ownership of products until they scan at the POS. Tops has engaged Prescient to assist with the management of its SBT program, including the on-boarding of suppliers and support for Tops and its suppliers. The SBT system will allow Tops to share visibility with its suppliers of store/item-level shrink, perpetual inventory and daily POS data. “We are confident Prescient SBT will improve our competitive position in our markets through improved customer service, fewer stock-outs for high-velocity items such as bread and milk, and improved collaboration with our suppliers,” said Kevin Darrington, Tops’ chief financial officer, in a statement.
