Tyson Foods has recalled 33,840 pounds of chicken identified as the likely source of salmonella illnesses in Tennessee, according to USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service.

The mechanically separated chicken products were shipped to institutions in California, Florida, Indiana, Kansas, Nevada, New Jersey, Ohio and Wisconsin. They were not sold to consumers.
FSIS and the Tennessee Department of Health identified seven cases of salmonella Heidelberg at a Tennessee correctional facility that could be linked to the Tyson chicken.
