STOCKTON, Calif. — John Quinn, president and chief executive officer of Food 4 Less here and Times Supermarkets in Hawaii, has been named 2010 Stocktonian of the Year.

Quinn will be formally honored at a banquet scheduled for Feb. 9. The award, in its 57th year, recognizes individuals who stand out in supporting civic groups and charitable causes in this Northern California city.

Quinn was cited for his years of civic involvement, including contributing half the cost of a new Transitional Learning Center for homeless children when the existing facility needed to relocate last year. He also contributed $200,000 toward the purchase of a heavy rescue vehicle for the Stockton Fire Department when budget cuts prevented its purchase, according to local reports.

Quinn's company operates 12 Food 4 Less stores and four Rancho San Miguel units in California and 20 Times Supermarkets in Hawaii.
