Aldi has opened two new stores, one in Muskegon, Mich., and another in Red Lion, Pa.

The stores opened May 9 and the hours on both are 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., , the Batavia, Ill.-based grocer said in a press release.

As part of an opening day celebration, the first 100 customers received a gift bag filled with Aldi “Fan Favorites” products and a gift card as part of the Aldi Golden Ticket gift card giveaway program.

Shoppers are also able to enter a sweepstakes during the grand opening weekend May 9-12 for a chance to win a $500 ALDI gift card.

Aldi announced in early March that it plans to open 800 new U.S. locations by the end of 2028. The German discount grocery chain claims 2,372 U.S. locations as of April 9, according to data from ScrapeHero.

The grocer also made headlines in mid-April with the announcement that it is testing checkout-free technology, Aldigo, with Berkeley, Calif.-based tech firm Grabango.
