Heritage Grocers Group has opened a new Cardenas Markets store in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The Ontario, Canada-based company, parent of Cardenas, said the 40,000-square-foot store at 4015 S. Buffalo Drive marks the Latino grocery chain’s 58th location, bringing Heritage’s total store count to 115. Heritage also operates 29 El Rancho Supermercado stores, 21 Tony’s Fresh Market locations and seven supermarkets under the Los Altos Ranch Market banner.
“The Heritage team is excited to expand its presence in the Las Vegas market with the opening of our 58th Cardenas Markets location,” said Doug Sanders, chairman and CEO of Heritage Grocers Group, in a statement. “We strive to deliver an exceptional shopping experience where our customers will find a wide assortment of fresh and authentic products reflective of the local community.”
The new Cardenas supermarket includes an affordable produce department with Latin American varieties; a full-service meat department with a large selection of seafood; a Mexican cocina featuring carnitas, tamales and taqueria classics; a bakery with pastries, pan dulce and bolillos; and a business service center.
The grocer plans to hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the store on Dec. 6 at 8 a.m. The event will include remarks from local leaders, live mariachis and performances from the Spring Valley High School Band and cheerleaders. The first 100 customers will receive a $50 Cardenas Markets gift card, and the grand opening will feature product giveaways. In addition, the Cardenas Markets Foundation is donating $10,000 to Spring Valley High School and $5,000 each to the University Medical Center Foundation, Three Squares Food Bank and Children’s Foundation of Las Vegas.
The new Cardenas location comes a little over a month after Heritage opened its 29th El Rancho Supermercado in Dallas.
