Food Lion said Monday that its “Easy, Fresh and Affordable” store rebranding is underway at 160 stores in its Greensboro, N.C., division.

The retailer, a division of Ahold Delhaize, said the company would invest approximately $178 million for renovations of its stores around Greensboro, including the cities of Winston-Salem, Lexington and High Point, intended to make them easier to shop; expand variety in areas like fresh food, healthy snacks and local selections; improve service including new checkout procedures and equipment; and offer lower everyday prices. The changes are intended to boost both basket size and store trips.

Greensboro is the fifth market to be remodeled since Food Lion kicked off the campaign in Wilmington, N.C. and Greenville, N.C. in 2014. When complete around August, nearly half of Food Lion’s more than 1,000 stores will have been renovated, officials said. Food Lion has also completed market-wide renovations of stores in Charlotte and Raleigh, N.C. Officials in December said they expected to complete 160 renovations this year.

Those renovations are driving better sales results, officials said, including an average 10% weekly sales growth in Wilmington, 3% in Greenville and 8% in Raleigh.
