Texas-based grocery H-E-B is making headlines this week with the news that it’s opening its first store in Fort Worth and that it’s renovating a Central Market location in San Antonio.

The Fort Worth store is set to open on April 10 at 3451 Heritage Trace Parkway, according to a story in the Beaumont Enterprise. The store’s website currently features a countdown clock ticking down to the grand opening.

Meanwhile, the grocer also announced it is renovating a Central Market location at 4821 Broadway, which first opened as an H-E-B in 1951, the company said.

The grocer plans to “refresh the store’s façade and execute a full remodel of the location’s interior, which will enhance the shopping experience for customers and work environment for store partners,” the company said in a press release.

“While specific details are in development and plans still require city approval, the second phase will include repositioning select departments, adding more energy efficient fixtures and equipment, expanding seating area for the café, implementing improvements to the breakroom and administrative spaces, and streamlining work areas for store partners,” the company said.

The Central Market location operated as an H-E-B until 1999, when it was rebranded as a Central Market. The 90,000-square-foot location is one of 10 Central Market locations across the state of Texas.

H-E-B claims $43 billion in sales and 430 stores in Texas and Mexico.
