A new ShopRite grocery store is coming to South Plainfield, N.J., on May 8.

The grocer, which is a banner of retailer-owned cooperative Wakefern Food Corp., is holding a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 7 a.m. on opening day of the 93,000-square-foot store.

The first 200 shoppers will receive gift bags with product samples and coupons, and ShopRite is offering the chance to win a $100 ShopRite gift card, the grocer said in a press release.

“We’re excited to welcome our customers to this new location and are kicking it off with a great celebration that will include special store happenings throughout the month of May,” said Rick Saker, senior vice president of Saker ShopRites, in a statement.

The new location will feature a broad selection of groceries from national brands and a line of international food products such as Southeast Asian specialties and Kosher and Halal products, the grocer said.

The store will also include a bakery with freshly made bread, a meat and seafood department, a pharmacy, and a prepared foods department.

Customers can also use the grocer’s online shopping service, Order.Pickup.Deliver.
