The Fresh Market will be opening its first City of Pittsburgh location at a former Whole Foods location in East Liberty, according to an announcement by CBRE.

The building, originally constructed for Whole Foods in 2002, has been vacant since 2022 when the grocery store moved to a larger space a few blocks away, according to reporting from a local news channel.

Global Commercial Real Estate Services announced Tuesday that they secured a lease for the building at 5880 Centre Avenue.

This is the second The Fresh Market location in Western Pennsylvania. The other location is in Mount Lebanon.

The new Fresh Market will be a part of an ambitious mixed-use master plan called EastSide, reports the Pittsburgh Business Times

The publication added that Fresh Market plans to open in the original EastSide building, a repositioned warehouse, in early 2025.
