The Giant Company promotes Brian Lorenz and Kathy Sweigert
Lorenz is the grocer’s new vice president of omnichannel fresh merchandising and Sweigert is VP of the Mid-Atlantic division.

Brian Lorenz, who has been with the Carlisle, Pennsylvania-based grocer since 2014, is now vice president of omnichannel fresh merchandising.

Kathy Sweigert, who started with The Giant Company in 2000, has been named VP of the Mid-Atlantic division.

“Brian and Kathy bring vast experience to our business, with more than 40 years of retail grocery experience between them, and have a strong understanding and appreciation of the needs of our team, customers and the communities we serve,” The Giant Company President John Ruane said in a statement. “I am excited to see them grow in their new roles and continue to contribute to The Giant Company in meaningful ways.”
Lorenz, who most recently served as category director for bakery and deli, will now oversee merchandising in produce, floral, meat, seafood, deli and bakery. Before joining The Giant Company, Lorenz held a variety of positions at Walmart and Tops Markets.
Since May 2022, Sweigert has served as director of human resources. In her new role, she will oversee retail operations at 100 Giant and Martin’s stores across Central and Western Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia.
Founded in 1923, The Giant Company operates 193 stores under the Giant, Martin’s and Giant Heirloom Market banners, as well as 133 pharmacies, 107 fuel stations and more than 180 online pickup hubs and delivery service in hundreds of zip codes.
