PITTSBURGH — Giant Eagle is offering free antibiotics for a limited time.

Loyalty cardholders who present valid prescriptions can get up to a 14-day supply of qualifying, generic antibiotics free.

There is no limit to the number of prescriptions that can be filled. The program covers new prescriptions and refills. The offer is valid through Feb. 28, 2014.

The program covers more than two dozen types of antibiotics, including amoxicillin, cephalexin and penicillin.

In other pharmacy news, Giant Eagle has kicked off a fuel discount program for Medicare patients. Each time patients spend $50 on Medicare prescriptions, including out-of-pocket expenses like deductibles and co-payments, they earn 10¢ off per gallon of gas at Giant Eagle gas stations.
