Mitchell Grocery Corp. is expanding its general merchandise offerings by partnering with Emery Jensen Distribution, Ace Hardware's wholesale division.

This partnership will allow Mitchell Grocery to offer 8,000 grocery-relevant SKUs and access to more than 90,000 other SKUs, which its current retail customers can order for cross-dock on regularly scheduled deliveries and will include items such as kitchen accessories, hardware and grilling accessories. Mitchell Grocery is an Albertville, Ala.-based wholesaler serving more than 200 independent supermarkets in the Southeast.

In addition to 40 in-aisle plan-o-gram sections offered, Emery Jensen also provides full seasonal programs and a complete clip strip program. Mitchell Grocery retailers will also have access to Hallmark's greeting card program as well as a complete Bissell carpet cleaning rental program.

Mitchell Grocery officials said the partnership was made "in an effort to better compete in the aggressive markets" it serves and to offer its customers "quality, useful and brand-name general merchandise items at a great price."

Additionally, company officials said Emery Jensen aligns with the company on "many levels, including values, goals, strategy and culture," and that the partnership will fill a "void" in its GM offerings.
