LUBBOCK, Texas — United Supermarkets launched its first private-label wine over the Fourth of July holiday weekend.

Marketed under the Market Street brand, Patio Sangria retails for $6.99. It is described as a summery blend of dark fruits, mango and lime.

The wine has strong local roots: Lubbock-based McPherson Cellars Winery created the wine exclusively for United. Likewise, the label features a painting entitled “Escape,” created especially for the wine by Lubbock artist Carol C. Howell.

Patio Sangria is the first of three private-label wines to launch at United. Farm to Market Red and Farm to Market White — also from McPherson — will be available within the next few weeks.

Patio Sangria is McPherson’s third sangria. The winery has also produced private-label versions for Pappasito’s, a local restaurant, and La Diosa Cellars, a tapas bar.
