Brookshire Grocery Co. has added two sustainable tuna varieties to its Brookshire’s brand: Albacore (solid white) tuna, 5-ounce, and a skipjack (chunk light) tuna in 12-ounce and 5-ounce sizes.

The tuna is sourced from Tri Marine, a founding member of the International Sustainable Seafood Foundation. Tri Marine has its own fishing fleet and large scale processing facilities, which allow it to trace tuna from catch to shelf.

“Brookshire’s skipjack tuna is caught without the use of a fish aggregating device which can negatively impact other marine wildlife while Brookshire’s Albacore tuna is certified sustainable by Marine Stewardship Council,” according to a press release from Tyler, Texas-based Brookshires. “These fishing methods support ocean conservation and environmental stewardship.”
