Value-added items were a big theme on the show floor this year, but the products that really caught my eye were fillets that come in a package you stick right in the oven.

In partnership with Orca Bay, Cryovac is expanding its Oven Ease packaging line to seafood with single serving frozen fillets. These come two to a box, in varieties like tilapia with chili lime sauce. Simply place the whole thing in the oven or microwave and throw away the packaging when you're done. Cryovac is also experimenting with Oven Ease bags of whole fish.

Similarly, Alaskan Leader Seafoods showed off its Oven Ready line of frozen cod fillets that cook in the bag. Alaskan Leader's bags are designed as dinner for two and come in nine flavors like teriyaki ginger and mornay white sauce. The cod is certified as sustainable by the Marine Stewardship Council and listed as “Best Choice” by the Monterey Bay Aquarium Seafood Watch.
