ShopRite debuts premium PL frozen shrimp

ShopRite has introduced a new frozen shrimp line under its premium private label brand that is preservative- and antibiotic-free, and sustainably sourced.

The shrimp earned the highest rating — four stars — for environmental and social responsibility from the Global Aquaculture Alliance. ShopRite said it could trace the shrimp back to the farm where it was raised and harvested.

ShopRite Shrimp is available in cooked or raw frozen varieties.

The retailer highlighted the benefits of the new shrimp in a video:

“We are proud to offer this high quality shrimp, which also has a great story when it comes to sustainability. The farms where our ShopRite shrimp are raised follow responsible practices that minimize environmental impacts, respect worker rights, and produce food safely and sustainably. This signature addition to our private label is another example of our great premium brand ShopRite private label products that taste great and are top rated in the industry,” Karen Meleta, spokesperson for ShopRite, said in a press release.
