Ahold highlights 100% sustainable seafood

Ahold USA announced seafood sold at the service counters in its Stop & Shop, Giant and Martin’s stores is now 100% sustainably sourced.

Ahold USA announced seafood sold at the service counters in its Stop & Shop, Giant and Martin’s stores is now 100% sustainably sourced.

All of the retailer’s Nature’s Promise and Own Brand seafood products, such as frozen shrimp and canned tuna, are also sustainably sourced.

Ahold said its store offer more than 200 sustainable seafood items.

“Sustainable seafood is the right consumer choice and is also better for the health of the aquatic ecosystems that produce it,” Marissa Nelson, SVP of responsible retailing and healthy living, Ahold USA, said in a press release. “We work with seafood suppliers who share our same values of respect for the environment and responsible product sourcing. By supporting these environmentally responsible fisheries and fish farms, our division stores provide high quality seafood that is not only good for our customers, but ensure the same quality seafood will be available for years to come.”
