Coborn’s has opened a new separate central baking facility in St. Cloud, Minn., that will exclusively produce gluten-free products, according to a company blog post.
The certified gluten-free facility will use only certified gluten-free ingredients to make mostly fresh items that will be available in all stores starting next week. As a further precaution, Coborn’s plans to test incoming ingredients and outgoing products to ensure they are in fact gluten-free.
The preliminary product line includes hamburger and hot dog buns, breads, cookies, muffins, cakes, cupcakes, brownies and seasonal items.
Customers will find a separate gluten-free bakery rack at the front of the store, the retailer said on Facebook. Gluten-free cakes will be located in the freezer section in the bakery.
“We have recognized that there is a need in the communities that we serve for really good tasting, fresh gluten-free product for our guests,” Bob Leuth, bakery plant manager, said in a video introducing the baking facility. “So we’ve been working on different recipes for about the last six to eight months, and we think we have found a line-up that is going to really satisfy the folks that are looking for gluten-free food.”
