SCHENECTADY, N.Y. — Price Chopper Supermarkets is celebrating the 20th anniversary of its in-store Bagel Factories with events that include giving customers a chance to win fresh, hand-crafted bagels for a year.

The 129-unit chain will underscore the authenticity of its bagels, making sure customers know about the process that goes into making bagels of the quality turned out everyday by its Bagel Factories. In fact, the retailer has made a video available to show customers just how the bagels are made (below).

“We pride ourselves in making authentic bagels that bake to a fine crisp on the outside while remaining dense and chewy on the inside,” Mona Golub, Price Chopper’s vice president of public relations and consumer and marketing services, said in a statement today. “Our Bagel Factories utilize traditional ingredients and New York-style boiling and baking techniques to handcraft the bagels.”

Ahead of the bagel’s popularity curve, Price Chopper’s Bagel Factories, over the last 20 years, have responded to customers by constantly adding variety to their product line-up,

Just this year, the chain’s Bagel Factories launched three whole-grain bagel varieties  plain, oat and raisin  and 20 flavor of bagel chips.

The growth of Price Chopper’s Bagel Factories has mirrored the growth in popularity of bagels across the country.  Since 1995, bagel sales have increased more than 500% nationwide.
