Weis Markets has opened its second new in-store beer café in as many weeks.
The newest 35-seat café, opened last week in its East Norriton, Pa., store, sells 300 to 400 varieties of beer for both on- and off-premise consumption, including imported beer and locally sourced craft beer.
Per Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board regulations, the café is separated from the supermarket but connected to the foodservice section of the store, according to a Philadelphia Business Journal report.
Earlier this month, Weis opened a beer café at its Doylestown, Pa., location.
Weis Markets spokesman Dennis Curtain told the Philadelphia Business Journal that shoppers love the one-stop-shopping convenience that the café provides.
“The thing about the cafés that we opened — what we hear from customers — is that they love its convenience. It saves them an extra shopping trip, and that it really works for a lot of customers.”
Weis plans to open another beer cafe in its West Manchester Township, Pa., store in the fall, according to the York Dispatch. The retailer currently has 19 beer cafes.
