Chicken of the Sea is expanding its distribution of its pioneering Flavored Salmon Pouches and in time for February’s designation as American Heart Month, Chicken of the Sea reminds seafood lovers of the importance of salmon as a heart-healthy food. Perhaps best known for tuna, Chicken of the Sea is the industry leader in shelf-stable salmon, providing pouches, cups and cans for a multitude of easy heart-healthy meal options to Pink Up Your Lunch. Along with introducing the industry’s first Flavored Salmon Pouches late last year, a line that was recently expanded to retailers nationwide, Chicken of the Sea was the first to offer skinless, boneless salmon in 1984 and has since championed the health, convenience, versatility and recipe-development benefits of this heart-healthy meal choice. “February means more to the heart than simply Valentine’s Day — it’s a time when all Americans should take stock in their diets and lifestyle from a heart health perspective,” says Erin Mrozek, Chicken of the Sea director of marketing. “One way to do this is by consuming more seafood, such as salmon. Heart-friendly options like Chicken of the Sea’s family of salmon products provide a gateway to a healthier life because they’re convenient, flavorful and encourage culinary exploration and creativity through new usage occasions.” As a healthy, convenient and tasty alternative to traditional lunches, Chicken of the Sea salmon is the perfect complement to sandwiches, salads and rice bowls. “We’re making it easy for seafood-loving Americans’ to make 2015 their most heart-healthy year ever,” Mrozek adds. Salmon contains Omega-3 fatty acids, which have been shown to lower the risk of arrhythmia (irregular heart beat) and atherosclerosis (plaque build-up in the arteries), while also decreasing triglycerides, say company officials, adding that the American Heart Association recommends eating fish (particularly fatty fish such as salmon) at least twice a week.
