CPG Industry Added $1 Trillion to Economy in 2004
The consumer packaged goods industry generated $2.1 trillion in revenue and contributed more than $1 trillion worth of value to the U.S. economy in 2004, according to the "Financial Performance Report" performed by PricewaterhouseCoopers for the Grocery Manufacturers Association/Food Products Association here.

The consumer packaged goods industry generated $2.1 trillion in revenue and contributed more than $1 trillion worth of value to the U.S. economy in 2004, according to the “Financial Performance Report” performed by PricewaterhouseCoopers for the Grocery Manufacturers Association/Food Products Association here. The significant contribution was attributed in part to the CPG industry‘s expansion of its business model to include outside collaboration and partnerships. Currently, industry growth remains above five percent, with overall productivity on the rise. “This report captures the vast economic power and impact of the food, beverage and consumer packaged goods industry,” said Stephen Sibert, vice president for industry affairs and membership, GMA, in a statement.
