Farm Fresh Appoints Senior Executive VP
named Ronald E. Johnson senior executive vice president, a new position.
Johnson, who has more than 20 years of industry experience, was senior vice president overseeing Farm Fresh's 60 combination stores. He also was vice president of operations at Farm Fresh and vice president of retail sales at Richfood, Richmond, Va., Farm Fresh's wholesaler.
In addition to responsibility for the combination-store division, Johnson's new position includes greater responsibility for corporate decisions, the company said. He also will oversee the integration of 12 stores in the Richmond market that Farm Fresh recently acquired from Safeway, Oakland, Calif.
Johnson will continue to report to Mike Julian, chairman, president and chief executive officer.
Certified Names Cripe Manager
CHICAGO -- Certified Grocers Midwest, a cooperative wholesaler based here, has named James G. Cripe manager of retail support.
The position had been vacant for nearly two years, although retail support responsibilities had been held by Ken Rucker, director of retail sales, prior to his resignation late last year.
Cripe was retail counselor and merchandiser for the Super Certified ad group. That position has been eliminated.
Cripe reports to Elwood F. Winn, Certified president.
Additionally, Francis Henry Schoeder has been named manager of business development, a new position. Schoeder was director of retail development and finance for Welton's Food Mart, Gurnee, Ill. He reports to Winn.
Joseph Scalzo has been named supervisor, store planner and purchasing agent, a new position. Scalzo was equipment purchasing agent. He reports to Cripe. Lisa Sculville succeeds Scalzo as equipment purchasing agent. She joins Certified from Jewel Cos. here.
Affiliated Appoints Pierce to New Post
LITTLE ROCK -- Affiliated Foods Southwest here has named C. Max Pierce a store development representative.
This is a new position at Affiliated, a cooperative wholesaler supplying 360 stores in six Southwestern states.
Pierce was director of engineering and real estate for Malone & Hyde, Memphis, Tenn., a division of Fleming Cos., Oklahoma City. Pierce reports to Jimmy Simmons, vice president of store development and property management.
AWG Creates New Department
KANSAS CITY, Kan. -- Associated Wholesale Grocers here has created a corporate business systems department and named three executives to positions in the new department.
Randy Berry, who was a financial systems analyst, was named manager of business systems. Under Berry, the business systems department is designed to communicate systems users' needs to the information services department.
Berry reports to Doug Boehmer, corporate controller.
Ron Agne has been named financial systems analyst in the new business systems department. He previously worked for Marion Merrell Dow. Agne reports to Berry.
Jerry Rodriguez has been named procurement systems analyst in the new department. He was a meat specialist in the Kansas City division. Rodriguez reports to Berry.
Additionally, Ron Doyle has been named manager of retail operations, a new position in the Kansas City division. He reports to Maurice Henry, executive director of member services.
