Food Lion Sells Food Boxes to Aid Needy
Food Lion is selling boxes of private-label staples to benefit Feeding America Food Banks. It hopes to raise more than 1.2 million pounds of food as part of its “Hunger Has A Cure” campaign.

SALISBURY, N.C. — Food Lion here is selling boxes of private-label staples to benefit Feeding America Food Banks. It hopes to raise more than 1.2 million pounds of food as part of its “Hunger Has A Cure” campaign.
The food boxes will be on display and sold for $4.99 through Dec. 29. Each contains Food Lion macaroni and cheese, canned mixed vegetables, rice, tomato soup, chunk light tuna, gelatin mix and dry pinto beans. The boxes also contain one donated item; Betty Crocker Corn Muffin Mix.
Food Lion is accepting other non-perishable donations. “Leave it in the collection bin and we’ll deliver it to your community’s local Feeding American Food Bank or affiliate agency,” states Food Lion in promotional materials.
